Janet’s professional career and personal history makes her an effective counsellor and coach, with expertise relating to trauma and relationships. Clinical Supervision and Mentoring for Mental Health Professionals and Pastoral Leaders.

Since earning her Postgraduate Diploma in Counselling in 1998, Janet has managed two Mental Health Projects, then became the Clinical Services Director for Counselling service, directly managing a team of 20 multicultural counsellors and 4 administrators. She has effectively counselled couples for 14 years as a Senior Prepare-Enrich Practitioner - helping people build strong marriages. She collaborates creatively with people to transform their lives and relationships with themselves and others. Several of her single clients have overcome unhealthy relational patterns and progressed into happy and healthy relationships and marriages. Janet is an expert in Childhood Sexual Abuse recovery, delivering training and clinical mentoring to individuals and groups.

Janet is an engaging public speaker and has had delivered quality teaching on various Conference platforms in South Africa (Durban, East London, Pretoria), Spain, USA, and throughout Greater London in England on topics relating to Trauma & Abuse, Identity, Healthy Singleness and Relationships.

A regular media contributor including radio shows since 2007 where she discusses “Taboo Topics” from a psychological, socialogical, existential and Biblical perspective. Janet serves voluntarily as the London Area Co-ordinator for the Association of Christian Counsellors (ACC) and is an active member of the South East Regional Committee of the ACC. This is the National accrediting body for standards in training and services for Counselling and Pastoral Care in UK. 

In 2009 Janet became an Accredited Race Equality & Cultural Capability Trainer for Mental Health Services in the NHS National Health Service. She’ delivered mandatory training to all bands of staff with direct contact with vulnerable patients.  Janet possesses a keen interest in working with difference - and how differing cultural and social backgrounds impact relationships. She has worked effectively with individuals and groups from every continent.

Janet McNish has been involved in Pastoral Care and Leadership in inner city projects in London England for 25 years. She is a founding member of Micah Christian Ministries, a vibrant, family church that equips people and communities. She serves there through teaching, counselling, interactive workshops and practical support – her commitment remains after 21 years.
